The overpressure of creativity. The overpressure of production. Or the progressive overpressure tearing down the entrenched conservative frameworks?
The Overpressure exhibition was a selection of the best student works of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague from years 2016 and 2017. It was curated by Johana Lomová and Vladimír Žák and displayed in The Museum of Decorative Arts. Curators of the exhibition selected students who exceeded expectations, who truly outdid themselves. The goal of the design was to present the students themselves, who usually remain in the overcasting shadow of their groundbreaking creations, not the theme of overpressue itself. We have developed a specific photographic concept, composition and styling and commissioned the photographer Peter Fabo. Students were portrayed using staged studio photography and with various objects representing the inspirational sources which influenced their exceptional results. The used photographic concept was an outcome of our thinking process about the representation and the relevance of inspiration within art practice.

Výstava Přetlak / Overpressure představuje výběr nejlepších studentských prací na Vysoké škole umělecko-průmyslové/Umprum vzniklých v letech 2016 a 2017. Kurátoři Johana Lomová a Vladimír Žák se soustředili výběrem na cca 20 děl, která překročili hranice očekávatelného. Přetlakem je tak míněn přetlak kreativity, přetlak bořící strukturu zažitých rámců, ale i třeba přetlak směřující ven mimo chráněný prostor školy.
Vizuál výstavy v u(p)m neměl od počátku fungovat jako uměle vytvořená zástupná grafická linka k titulu “přetlak”, ale jako prostředek k prezentaci samotných “best of” studentů, kteří jsou při těchto výročních výstavách lehce ve stínu svých prací. Nešlo za každou cenu jen o zobrazení identit, ale hlavně o vztah k vystavovaným projektům. Způsob vztahu k inspiračním zdrojům, které mohou obnášet právě přetlak ideí a nerealizovaných nápadů, nakonec u mnohých vedly ke zdárnému výsledku. V rámci vizuální identity projektu jsme mimo grafického layoutu zadání rozšířili i o styling a charakter fotografií, které fotil Peter Fabo.
